101 Track Plans for Model Railroadersstar rating 4John IzzoFebruary 6, 2011This is a great book! Well layout and very very informative with lots of interesting plans. I can't put it down, continuing to refer to it for ideas and /or changes to my layout! The only criticism would be (at the least for me) the emphasis on the larger layouts. There are only four pages dedicated to HO scale. I'm a HO person.:-) Cheers,
101 Track Plans for Model Railroadersstar rating 5AndrewJanuary 2, 2011Great book! I wore the pages off my first copy I bought in the early 1980s and had to buy a second copy.

101 Track Plans for Model Railroadersstar rating 5Sandy SmithSeptember 27, 2010101 Track Plans is like sitting down with an old friend to talk about layouts. I have previously bought two earlier copies of this excellent guide. Both times I lent it out and it never returned to me. This is a great guide even though the "style" of track planning is not in vogue there are hundreds of insightful tips for everyone.
101 Track Plans for Model Railroadersstar rating 4CraigFebruary 18, 2010This book was first published in 1956 and has gone through dozens of printings since. I bought my copy in 1980, and have probably re-read it a dozen or so times in the intervening years. There are a lot of really good plans here, especially if you are confined to a 4x8 or similar space. The author, Wescott, is one of the hobby's great contributors, and he put a lot of effort into helping people new to the hobby get started, with this book being but one example. However, model railroad design has evolved a lot in the last 54 years and most of the designs and commentary are now very outdated. You won't find staging in any layout in the book, for example, although one or two layouts do have hidden "layover tracks". You will find lots of layouts that have the tracks going through the same scene 2 or more times. You'll find very few modern-ish around-the-walls style layouts. My take is that this is an enjoyable book to read just for the insight into the history of the hobby, but for layout design suggestions I'd probably recommend most of the other layout books here before this one.
101 Track Plans for Model Railroadersstar rating 5Don EyserNovember 12, 2009This is the classic book of track plans. If you can not find some thing in it start over at the front of the book and go through page by page. There are ideas for everyone in it.
